My research took me deeper in the Enterprise Systems course at ICL that enhanced my knowledge on the importance of how integrated systems like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) help in business fundamentals and even better decision making within organizations. This course taught me about the role of these platforms, such as SAP, in real-time data sharing even across the departments and supported greater coordination, efficiency of operations, and data-driven approaches in business.
One of the major lessons that were learnt was the strategic use of ERP system in facilitating efficient procedures like finance, inventory management, procurement, and customer service. I discussed the role of the systems in enhancing the business agility as they ensure that proper correct centralized information is availed to enable right decisions to be made and at the right time.
This was further cemented in the same group work when we worked through the advantages and disadvantages of a ERP system used in a virtual business company. The exercise also stressed the need to manage technology alongside the organizational goals and the dominant factors that need to be taken into consideration include change management, the involvement of stakeholders, and the training of users in understanding and operating the ERP implementations.
The practical work and the theory that I obtained during the course have made me ready to be helpful in the future worldwide implementations of enterprise systems. I intend to assist programs in picking and implementing ERP that suits their strategic requirements.
To further advance this knowledge, I am also working towards SAP and I am keen to chart this course as I have great confidence that this would augment my technical expertise and subsequently make me more competitive in the job market. Those three, in combination with the learning experience as provided in this course, will further set me up to work in areas related to business analysis, IT-consulting, or ERP-project-management.
In general, my course has enabled me to have a robust knowledge of enterprise systems as an entrencher of efficiency and integration and strategic advantage in a contemporary organization.
