The course I took in ICL called Business Professionalism helped me develop a good grasp of what workplace ethics and professional communication expect of me and how I could operate in a team effectively. Thanks to this course, I gained a deep understanding of how crucial professionalism is in a business setting, how ethical predicaments can be adjusted to, how to be culturally sensitive, and how to communicate politely and in an efficient manner.
Probably, one of the most valuable things in this course was how we could learn how to cooperate with people with different cultural and professional backgrounds. These skills came into practice during group assignments, especially the De Nature Glow assignment, wherein we were able to create digital presence of a startup coconut candle business. Interpersonal skills, flexibility, demonstration of interpersonal power interest, maintenance of a nonjudgmental attitude as well as the ability to resolve interpersonal problems amicably contributed towards the cohesive performance of our group and the accomplishment of the collective goals.
I think that these experiences demonstrate the value of emotional intelligence and cultural awareness as critical attributes in the contemporary globalized and multicultural workplace—at least in countries as heterogeneous as New Zealand. In addition to the theoretical information, the course provided me with the practical skills to effectively handle the professional interactions in the most confident and integrity-based manners.
In the future, I will continue to enhance these competencies. I intend to attend professional networking events, workshops, and seminars that will be dealing with business etiquette, diversity and communication that can happen at work place. These opportunities will make me sharpen my interpersonal and leadership abilities which will make me ready to bring in my desired contribution in any kind of professional environment.
The information learnt through this course will keep on guiding me towards becoming a well developed business person that is both ethically oriented and culturally sensitive.
